Extended Vehicle Warranties Reviews for New and Used Cars

11.29.2011

Most people need a vehicle today. And when you go looking for one, it's important to remember what it'd be like when you're ready to sell it. The selling price of a vehicle is usually influenced by three factors:

- Vehicle make and model
- How often the vehicle is used
- Vehicle warranty

There is a great deal of vehicles sold every year, which means you don't have to keep a vehicle more than four years. The time you're ready to sell your vehicle or if you must have your vehicle for an extended period of time, you'll be glad to have a vehicle warranty... in case something bad occurs with it.

Why You Should Invest In An Extended Vehicle Warranty

Repair costs to your vehicle can be very high down the road, as they are used for a longer period of time. To keep prices from spiraling out of control, invest in an extended car warranty. Why?

Keep in mind that most of your vehicle repair costs come when you typically don't have a lot of money to spare. This is certainly the time you don't want to be caught without a car warranty. Think of it has Murphy's Law and anything and everything can happen to your car when you don't have a warranty.

Once the manufacturer/dealer warranty expires, you'll have to put up with all the costs. Thus, for the long run, it would be best to have an extended vehicle warranty that protects you so that you're not caught off guard by the enormous bill that can come with your car repair.

Shop Around, Don't Buy The First Extended Warranty You See

Okay, this is not meant to scare you into purchasing the first car warranty you come across. Never let a car dealership talk you into getting their extended car warranty, as they often try and do. The reason is that the car dealership will do what it can to increase the money it can make from you. Their warranties are often much more expensive than they should be.

It's the biggest reason the salesperson tries to get you to make the warranty purchase. However, extended warranties are intended to save you cash over time so there's no reason to pay out the nose for it in the beginning. A great thing about extended warranties is that you can get them when you want, where you want. The most important thing about warranties is that an older model vehicle can benefit from them.

What Extended Warranties Cover

Extended warranties will cover a variety of common items and sometimes luxury devices including DVDs, GPS systems, etc. You also have the option to go with a bumper to bumper warranty, which covers all parts of the vehicle from the moment it's inspected. In essence, that means anything and everything in your vehicle.

If the vehicle warranty doesn't cover anything specifically, it will be listed so that you know ahead of time. Of course, some kinds of extended warranties will cost a bit more than you can afford. That means you can look for an extended warranty that deals more with the technical nature of your vehicle including the power, engine, brakes, ABS system, etc. When compared to a basic warranty, extended warranties are far better.
