When looking at Lincoln used cars, it's hard not to look at the LS; it's very stylish and roomy. This Lincoln is very popular with the North American consumer because of how well the vehicle is designed. It's a lot cheaper than some of its competitors such as the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series and the Audi's A6 model. The Lincoln LS from all accounts handles just as well on the road as its competitors do. Will take a look at the LS from 2000 to 2005 as a used vehicle to buy.
Lincoln LS used cars:
The LS has a nice interior to it, there are not much changes to the inside of the vehicle from 2000 to 2005. The Lincoln LS is very spacious, it has beautiful leather seats, with a rich looking wood trim panel throughout the vehicle. The speedometer and engine controls are very easy to read and the center console is your typical Lincoln module, again very simple to use. The LS comes standard with power steering, AM/FM stereo, CD player and of course heating/air conditioning. Over all it's a great car to driving in because of the comfort Lincoln put into this vehicle.
There are some changes to the different engine sizes over the years from 2000 to 2005. There are two different engine sizes the V6 and the V8. The V6 model in 2000 came with a 210 horsepower engine. The next model up was a V8, it had a 252 horsepower engine that the LSs had. In 2003 Lincoln boosted the horsepower in both engines, the V6 now has 232 horsepower and the V8 added 28 horsepower, to give it a total of 280 HP. Earlier models for the V6 had an option for both automatic and manual transmissions, but in later years in production Lincoln dropped the manual transmission from the V6 line up. The V8 was always an automatic transmission but also included the manual shifter module.
I found only one fuel statistic for the V6 engine. The Lincoln LS had a fuel rating of 12-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 8.2-litre, per 100km for highway driving.
Let's look at some of the pros and cons with the LS as used vehicle to buy.
1- There are gasket leak problems with the valve cover.
2- There are problems with the automatic transmission that has something to do with the power train.
3- The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety organization gave it a good rating for frontal crash tests done to it.
4- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it a 5 star rating for both driver and passenger protection for a frontal crash test done to it.
5- Reading different comments in forums I went to about the LS, it seems to have an average rating for reliability.
If you want a car that competes in the same luxury market as the BMW-5 series or the Mercedes-Benz E-Class then the LS is for you. As far as used cars go, this is very a safe car to drive and it costs a lot cheaper than the 5 series or the E-Class.
