Ford Model T (also known as the Tin Lizzie, FLiwer, T-Model Ford, or T) is a car manufactured by Ford Motor Company from 1908 until 1927.Model T set 1908 as a historic year for them.
Ford Model T is considered as the first car affordable to the general public.
This is partly made possible after the modern assembly systems were introduced, instead of using assembly is done manually.
This car was designed by Childe Harold Wills and two Hungarian immigrant, Joseph A. Galamb and Eugene Farkas. Another member of the design team is Henry Love, CJ Smith, Gus Degner and Peter E. Martin.
Model T was first produced on August 12, 1908 at the Piquette Plant in Detroit, Michigan and went on sale on 27 September 1908.
On May 26, 1927, Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company's Model T to witness the 15 million produced at the factory.
Model T was the first automobile mass produced using modern assembly and targeting aimed at middle class Americans.
Before the Ford Model T, Henry Ford had made a few prototypes but never mass produced. Total of 19 prototypes numbered and named according to the alphabet A through T.
Models made before the Model T is the Model S which is an upgrade from the Model N. Interestingly, after the Model T version of the Model A was not named Model U.
Ford Model T was selected as the most influential in the 20th century in an international poll. To this Henry Ford said:
"I wish to make a car with a lot of functions. This car should be large enough to accommodate all family members, but at a cost affordable care.
This car must be made from the finest materials, assembled by the best people after going through the design and modern design.
However, this car must remain affordable, so people with high incomes can have it. "
