Daihatsu Copen was first introduced as a concept car at the event in Tokyo Motor Show 1999 and began mass production in 2002. Although the model comes with a funny and cute, but the car is capable of providing the sensation of driving a powerful car like sport in general. Small 2 door sports car is equipped with two engine options. First, the JB-DET engine capacity of 1.3 liter 660 cc engine, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that can generate power 64 PS with 110 Nm of torque. The maximum speed that can be achieved is 90 mph (145 km / h) and acceleration from 0-60 mph in 11.7 seconds. Another option to use K3-VE engine type DVVT 1.3L, DOHC 16 valve that can generate power by 87 PS and 120 Nm of torque. Through this machine the tiny Daihatsu Copen able to run up to a maximum speed of 110 mph (170 km / h) and acceleration 0-62 mph in 9.5 seconds.
But after nearly 10 years of existence, Daihatsu Copen enthusiasts continue to decline and the level of sales. On the basis of this, the Daihatsu is rumored to be stopping the production process to be conducted in August 2012.
