These days, it may seem impossible to own anything that is 100% free from any danger of being damaged, stolen, or vandalized. We live in a tough world, and these occurrences seem to be more and more prevalent, although they may vary according to where you live. If a thief is going through a parking lot of cars, he will likely find himself extra happy at finding a car with the doors left unlocked and completely inviting. Simply get in the habit of locking your car every time you leave it. Your possessions and your car will be much safer if you do.
Also, be sure to keep any important items such as purses, CD cases, grocery bags full of items, or any other belongings of worth out of the sight of anyone walking past your car. By leaving your precious items out in the open, you run a huge risk of being broken into.
Just be smart about where you put your car, what you leave in it, and how vulnerable you allow it to be in public places. Should anything look suspicious to you, immediately call the police and allow them to help you determine if something has been stolen, or if people have gone through the items in your car. We live in a world where this is not uncommon, and it can be difficult to accept. However, if you live in a cautious and aware way, you may be able to avoid the worst of it.
