Chrysler 300 Luxury Series Makes Its Debut

1.08.2012

The Chrysler brand is a premium make, but its competition is Buick not Cadillac, Lexus or Lincoln. This means that Chrysler lacks a true luxury brand, something it hasn't had since the Imperial was its flagship sedan.

Chrysler, however, has a line of rear- and all-wheel-drive models that derives its platform from Mercedes-Benz technology. Its 300 and 300C stem from the automaker's days as part of the failed DaimlerChrysler entity, vehicles that were updated in 2011 and continue to lead the Chrysler brand.

The 300 series is as close to being a luxury car as you can get and with the introduction of the Luxury Series, this model is now the most luxurious Chrysler product ever built, even topping previous Imperial models that stood for luxury.

Here is what you'll find in the Chrysler 300 and 300C Luxury Series:

Exterior Enhancements -- The 300's athletic, but luxurious stance receives several important exterior treatments in the Luxury Series. RWD models are equipped with 20-inch polished face wheels while AWD models are outfitted with 19-inch painted pocket aluminum wheels. Its fascia features platinum chrome accents, side mirror caps and chrome door handles. Its grille is unique to this series too and features a platinum-chrome finish with platinum chrome mesh.

Engines and Transmissions -- Choose the V-6 engine with rear-wheel-drive and this motor is paired with a ZF-licensed 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine enables the big Chrysler to attain a class-leading 31 mpg on the highway. A 5.7-liter V-8 is available too and comes paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Interior Upgrades -- How do you define luxury? Step inside the Luxury Series and a cabin full of enhancements are included. An 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Garmin navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link, an LED-illuminated instrument cluster with driver-selectable color EVIC are among the features present. This model also includes a power tilt and telescoping steering column with memory settings; power-adjustable pedals with memory; a power backlight sunshade; Berber carpet floor mats featuring satin chrome lower door sills with "Chrysler" logo; dual heated and cooled cup holders; foot well lighting; LED-illuminated interior door handles and map pockets for the front and rear. Many of the standard features found in the Luxury Series are optional in other editions if available at all.

Safety Measures -- Front, side and driver's knee airbags are standard with the Luxury Series as are side curtain airbags that offer protection for outboard sitting passengers. This sedan is equipped with four-wheel anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control and features active head restraints to protect occupants.

Chrysler Warranties -- If you're ever stuck, towing assistance is provided for the first 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This vehicle offers a bumper to bumper warranty for 36 months or 36,000 miles. Drivetrain and corrosion warranties have Chrysler models protected for 5 years or 100,000 miles. Extended warranties are available through your Chrysler dealership.

Cost for the well-appointed 300 Luxury Series begins at $40,145 or about $12,000 more than base models. However, this Chrysler is competitively priced with other full-size luxury sedans, offering a lower beginning price point than most.

How To Take Advantage Of An Auto Show

1.07.2012

There are many reasons why you may want to purchase a new vehicle. Maybe your old model is having trouble and not running well. Perhaps you have had problems with your current one and you feel unsafe in it. You may enjoy driving a new ride and have a pattern of purchasing a new one every year or two. You may even just like the new models and want to purchase a new vehicle for the fun of it. Whatever the reason for your desire to purchase a new automobile, you can get some good information at an auto showing.

Many people just like to go to the auto display for fun. It can be enjoyable to see the new makes and models that are coming out as well as the new features on the automobiles. Often, some of the newest, most clever gadgets and options are shown off at the expo. There are often unique colors of paint on the vehicles at the extravaganza. Going to the auto show can be a fun family event, or enjoyable with a group of your friends. At this event, you can see the new models usually before they are out for purchase by the general public. This can be a fun thing to do. Often you will also see some rare or exotic rides that you may dream of owning some day. There are many other reasons why you many want to attend the event.

The auto presentation may be especially helpful and informative to you if you are in the market for a new automobile. There are four main shows and then smaller ones throughout the United States. If you have no idea what kind of car you want to purchase, the event can be great for you because you can see lots of different makes and models and see which ones interest you or catch your eye. This can be a good place to see lots of different makes and models all in one place. This can save you time and energy as opposed to running around to all the different dealers.

If you already have an idea as to which new car you would like to purchase, you can look at that particular make and model at the event and get an idea if it is really the right choice for you. You can look at all the specific details and often you can even sit in the car and see how it feels. You may also be able to see what other carmakers offer a similar type of vehicle and check that one out. Sometimes in a particular model, one manufacturer will offer a better one than another. The car show is a good place to find this out and do some checking on it.

When you are going to attend the show, you can look online and see if they offer a floor plan on their web page. There should be a floor plan for at least the four main shows. This can help you make sure you get to check out the particular vehicles you are looking at.

Handy Locksmith Tools for You

If you are looking for tools and equipment to be kept handy in case you lock yourself out of your car, then this article will be useful in detailing how you can help yourself without running to find a locksmith.

Numerous makes and models of cars are available today. Each of these cars has their own unique features and are designed and manufactured by a particular company. Though the basic mechanism of all cars remains similar, the functionalities of each car may be different and that is what differentiates the cars from each other. One car may give good mileage while another may have an excellent engine that gives amazing horsepower. Cars are also made in different sizes and can seat varying amounts of people. Vehicles having the ability to seat two people are ideal for couples while vans and large sized vehicles can seat an entire family or up to eight people. Engines capable of different speeds can be found in the vehicles and that helps them to be driven in different terrains like hilly or straight lanes.

New age cars are generally available in different colors and the more famous are the metallic shades one which give the body of the car a glistening appearance. Seats fitted into modern vehicles are extremely comfortable and are usually easy to clean and maintain. While car thefts were a common occurrence a few decades ago, most modern cars have an alarm system and locking mechanism that keeps them safe from meddlers. Using radio waves as the mode of transmission, the keyless remote mechanism works with a central fob that acts as a main hub for receiving signals. By clicking a button on the keyless remote all doors of the car can be locked to ensure safety. Since radio waves are used to transmit signals, cars can be locked from even several feet away.

Only radio waves of a particular frequency are used to send signals across and this too is encrypted in order to ensure that not everyone can transmit signals to open the car doors. Transponder keys use a similar technology and are connected to the engine or the car doors. They do not have groves like traditional keys and unlocking occurs only when the signals are sent by a particular key. It is thus no longer easy to open locks on cars with the help of a pin or tools like a widget. An alarm is triggered when the car door is forcibly opened or the car is meddled with. Beeping accompanied with blaring of the horn is usually the alarm and helps in alerting the owner and scaring thieves and meddlers away.

In case you get locked out of your own car or forget the remote inside the car or loose or misplace the car remote, you may have to get hold of a locksmith to help you open the door. Instead you could have tools like decoders handy which will help in decoding the signal to your car and open it for you. These types of locksmith tools can easily be carried around and thereby help one in becoming self sufficient.

This writer of this article is currently associated with Transponder Island, a prominent supplier of remote keys for various car models and locksmith supply.

A Closer Look at IIHS Safety Ratings

1.06.2012

Buying a new car means finding out what it comes equipped with including safety equipment. These days, most new cars offer a suite of airbags, traction and stability control, and four-wheel antilock brakes. Some vehicles offer important safety enhancements including a rear view backup camera, collision avoidance and active head restraints.

What every car shopper should understand before buying a car is how well this vehicle performs in crash testing. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates most vehicles and that information will not only tell you how safe a car is, but give you a good idea on its insurance costs. Indeed, those vehicles that score highest in IIHS testing also offer reduced insurance premiums.

Lets take a look at the four categories the IIHS uses to determine a passenger vehicle's crashworthiness:

Frontal offset -- Head on collisions are oftentimes deadly, thus this test can determine whether a vehicle's front crumple zones and airbags will help you survive an accident. Even the smallest models such as the Fiat 500 and Toyota Yaris perform well in these tests.

Side impact -- If you're t-boned in an accident, your chances of survival decrease as speeds increase. Many cars employ rigid steel beams in doors and offers side impact and side curtain airbags to provide an extra measure of protection. Many compact cars including the Mazda 3, Nissan's Leaf and the Chevrolet Cruze have measured up to the IIHS' requirements.

Roof strength -- Rollover accidents can be deadly, more so with high-profile vehicles such as SUVs. Roof strengthening measures undertaken by manufacturers have made roof pillars stronger even for some large models such as the Buick Enclave and Ford F-150. Stability control keeps these vehicles planted, equipment required by the IIHS for 2012 models.

Rear crash protection/head restraint -- Get hit in the rear and you may survive the accident, but have whiplash injuries. Many cars employ rear crumble zones and some come with active head restraints, the latter offering another measure of support in such accidents. Volvo models are among those big on such safety measures as are certain Cadillac, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai and Volkswagen vehicles.

The IIHS assigns Good, Acceptable, Marginal and Poor ratings for each test area. For any vehicle that gets four "good" marks, the IIHS awards it with its "Top Safety Pick" award. For the 2012 model year 115 vehicles received the top rating the most ever. So, before you buy know the rating and call your insurance agent to find out what rate you'll pay before you make a purchase. If your rate is higher than you expect, it could be that she hasn't received the latest IIHS ratings as posted to IIHS.org.

Where to Find the Best Winter Car Covers

The winter weather can do a lot of damage to your car if you don't protect it properly. Rain, snow and even heavy wind can damage paint, tires and hub caps. The best way to protect your car is with a car cover. But with so many companies out there making them, where do you get the best one?

Good quality car protectors can be expensive, so you want to make sure you get the most out of your money. Many people try to find ways to save by getting used car covers, only to find that they are damaged, which defeats its own purpose. A cover that is torn or one whose material is worn out will not do the best job in protecting your car. Heavy winds or rain can cause part or all of it to come off, exposing your car to the extreme weather which can damage it.

Sure, you may find something that looks good on a site like Craigslist or eBay that is cheaper and looks like it will be fine, but you may actually have to spend more money later to replace not only the used car cover, but also to repair the damage that may be done to your car. Winter is an especially important time to make sure your car has the protection it needs. Something that doesn't remain on sturdy or has holes can cause damage to your car.

You can also find covers in retail stores like Best Buy, Walmart or Target, but the prices at those places may not be the best deals you can get. Walmart and Target for example will have very inexpensive car covers for around $30.00, but the quality will be lacking. You can go to Best Buy and find better quality covers for your car, but the prices are usually marked up.

What I've found to be the best places to buy car covers, especially for the winter, is through an online wholesaler. Many times you can find retailers that sell car covers at wholesale prices, but they are still excellent products that are perfectly dependable for your car. I also feel much more calm and able to make a better decision about my purchase when I'm doing it at home on my computer, rather than being persuaded by salespeople, and feeling the anxiety of all the different options. This way, you can sit back, relax, and browse through your options.

Don't let your car fall victim to the weather. Protect your car with a car cover you can depend on. Go to thecarcover.com for car covers and other car accessories.

Why It Is Important To Practice Tire Rotation

Tires do not wear evenly and it is preferable to take steps to ensure that all four tires wear at an even rate. In this way it is possible to extend the overall life of a single set of tires. Not only will the tires last longer, but the vehicle will perform better and the safety of the passengers will be better protected.

There are many reasons why tires wear at different rates. When a vehicle turns, for example, more pressure is placed upon the front tires, especially the one facing the direction of the turn. Front wheel drive vehicles are especially said to place tremendous pressure on the front wheels, causing them to wear much quicker than the rear ones. Braking also has an effect. There is also a distinct difference between the weight distribution on the front and back tires. Mechanical problems can also cause uneven wear. For example, any wheel that is out of alignment will wear much faster than the others. Over or under inflation may also have an effect. All of these factors can be negated by rotating the wheels from time to time.

Most manufacturers recommend that this practice should be executed after a certain distance has been covered. Not only does it help to prevent uneven wear if the tires, but it can most certainly even have a positive influence upon the road holding, handling and traction of the vehicle.

There are several schools of thought when it comes to the question of how exactly and how often this procedure should be performed. Most manufacturers provide guidelines and it may be wise to ask the advice of a reputable dealer. It seems that the most common answer is that the procedure should be performed roughly every twelve thousand kilometers.

Traditionally, the rearward cross method has been favored. This involves swapping the front and back wheels on each side of the car. The left front wheel goes to the left back and vice versa. In recent years, however, experts have come to recommend the X pattern. In this instance, the wheels are crossed back to front. For example, the left front wheel is placed at the right back and the right front wheel at the left back and vice versa. This method, when performed regularly, is said to ensure the best chance for an even wear.

Experts agree that the methods described above may be beneficial for all wheel drive and rear wheel drive vehicles, but that a different technique is necessary for front wheel drive cars. For these vehicles, the forward cross technique is recommended. This is because front wheel drive vehicles places particularly harsh demands on the front wheels. This method involves moving the back wheels to the front, but in a cross pattern. The left back wheel goes to the front right and the right back wheel goes to the left in the front. The two front wheels do not cross. The left wheel in the front goes to the left at the back of the car and the wheel in the front right side goes to the right back.

Detractors argue that there is little point in trying to ensure that all the tires wear simultaneously and at the same rate. They also point out that this practice necessitate that a complete set of wheels to be bought at a time, something not all car owners can afford. It is furthermore argued that it is best and safest to have the best tires at the rear, regardless of whether the car is front or rear wheel drive.

Yet many experts maintain that vehicles offer better handling when all the wheels are in the same condition. They admit that the replacement of all the wheels at the same time may prove to be an expensive exercise, but prudent automobile owners will certainly be able to plan for the periodic purchase of new tires so that a full set is available when it becomes necessary to replace the set.

When reviewing the various views, it seems as if tire rotation can only be beneficial. The practice allows for even wear on all the wheels, resulting in better handling and improved safety. Luckily, it is easy to perform this simple task at home by using only the tools that are supplied with the vehicle and that is used to change a flat tire.

The Best Ways To Conserve Fuel

1.01.2012

You may be wondering how you can conserve energy, and especially fuel that you use in your vehicle. Many people drive quite a long distance to work or school each day and actually use quite a lot of gas. Even sitting in traffic, your auto is usually on and using it. You may not realize that you can actually cut you r energy use down quite a bit if you are just aware of a few quite simple tips. These are not rocket science, but are just things to think about and consider if you want to save money. Saving on fuel and cutting your use can also be good for our environment. Each person is responsible as a citizen of the earth to take care of it and preserve it in a good way for future generations. Cutting your energy use is one of the ways you can do your part in this effort. And, it should save you quite a bit of money in the mean time if you really get serious about it!

The first thing you can think about when figuring out how you can save on gas is to not make speedy starts when you are stopped and start going in your car. Gradual starts can save you about half the gas you would use if you make a speedy start in your car. This is an easy thing to do such as when you are stopped at a stop sign or a stop light. When you get a green light or start moving again, move gradually and don't jump off the line with an abrupt start. It is not a race, and you don't have to beat the car next to you!

Another good way to conserve energy is to try to stay at a steady speed while you are driving in your car. When you slow down or speed up or stop, it cuts your fuel economy every time. If you stay alert and don't drive when you are drowsy or tired you will do better at this one. When driving behind another vehicle, you should keep a good distance between you and the car in front of you. This should help you anticipate traffic issues and help you avoid sudden stops as well as slowdowns when the vehicle in front of you slows down or brakes.

Did you know that when you use your air conditioner it causes your fuel economy to go down? Many people have never heard of such an idea, but it is a true fact. If you don't need the air conditioner, you can leave it off. If it is just a little bit hot or uncomfortable in your vehicle, often you can roll down the windows and let some fresh air in and a little air circulation and you don't even need the air conditioner then. You can try this next time you feel like turning on the air conditioner.

When you sit and your car is one for more than about two minutes, you are wasting gas. If you are going to be stopped for more than two minutes, you can turn off your car and then restart it again when you need to. There are many ways to conserve gas.

Cool Car Colors

12.30.2011

A car color can give you a lot of insight into the driver and his or her personality. Here are a few cool car colors.

Black - If you want to be taken seriously then a black car is the way to go. It's a somber color but most important officials such as politicians and business tycoons tend be chauffeured in black luxury cars. If you look young for your age and want to be taken seriously, black may be a good color choice for you. This color commands respect while still blending in with the crowd.

Pink - Pink is a very girly color and chances are that the owner of any pink car is most likely a female. Chances are that the car is mostly custom painted since pink is generally not a car that most auto brands have in stock. Drivers of pink cars can be funky, spontaneous and lots of fun. Someone with a pink car probably thinks of herself as a princess and probably tends to be on the high maintenance side.

Silver - It's one of the most popular car colors in the world. Silver is an easygoing color that isn't jarring. It looks particularly good on convertibles, coupes and sports cars. There are different hues of silver, such as light silver and metallic silver which can be very edgy and rather sexy on the right car.

Red - Red is the color of fire and passion. Drivers of red cars love and crave attention and they sure get it. The color red is particularly favored on sports cars like the Toyota Supra or Corvette. However, red cars do stand out on the road. This can be a good thing most of the time except when you've caught the eye of law enforcement.

Green - Green cars can mean different things depending on the shade of green. A darker green car means that the owner is generally conservative and likes to play it safe. However, a shade of bright neon green conveys an attitude of a young and carefree driver,

Blue - Drivers of blue cars tend to be rather traditional and practical. They are no-fuss kind of people who don't want any frills. This color can look very striking on classic American cars and classic muscle cars.

The most popular colors for vehicles in the United States are white, silver and black. So give the color options some thought the next time you buy a car. Your vehicle color may say a lot more about you than you realize!

Choosing the Right Aftermarket Headlights for Your Car - Halo Projector, Euro, OEM or LED Headlights

12.29.2011

There are many different types of custom headlight styles on the market such as projector headlights, LED headlights and euro headlights. No matter what reason you have for replacing your headlights you can't go wrong with projector head lights as far as functionality and style goes. Projector headlights are designed to illuminate the road better allowing the driver to see more of the road and to drive more safely at night. As a bonus, just about all the aftermarket headlights out there have cool new designs to update the appearance of your vehicle and if paired with the right HID headlight kit your car will definitely turn heads.

A lot of the aftermarket projector headlights come equipped with LED halos but not all of them are made with CCFL halos. The halo can be wired into the parking lights, into a separate switch, or just about anywhere else. The halo or angel eyes originally found on high-end cars such as BMWs became very popular due to their distinctive look and now they are available for just about any make and model out there. The difference between the LED and CCFL halos is fairly simple, the Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp is a newer technology and is said to be around three times brighter.

Euro style headlights are one of the other options that is designed to look more like the factory headlights but with an updated, modern look to them. Although the euro head lights do not come equipped with the projector housing they still do a very good job at lighting up the road, combined with the right bulb or HID kit of course. They are also the cheaper option if you're on a tight budget but still want to improve your car's lighting.

Another trend starting up in headlight industry driven by the Audi R8 model is what is now being called the R8 style LED strip on the bottom of the headlight. Like the halo or the LED options already available this LED strip comes installed inside the headlight assembly usually with the power and the ground wires coming out from the headlight in order for you to wire the LED strip into the parking lights or any other switch of your choice. This is a great new feature that will definitely turn heads.

Some aftermarket headlights are also compatible with factory HID systems. This is something you should definitely check before purchasing a set of headlights for your car. Typically this is the case with higher end cars such as Audi or Mercedes but there are several others out there.

No matter what style headlight you're looking for, most sets are available in a black or chrome housing and some even in a titanium or smoke housing. Installation is usually simple enough to the point where just about anyone can do it but some applications may require professional installation.

Ford MyKey For Safe Teen Driving

12.27.2011

My teenage daughter recently started driving this month. Life has changed for me. Every time she asks to use my car, my brain goes into sense overload with feelings of panic, stress, and fear. Recently, I started looking at vehicles that I may be able to buy for her that would increase her safety. What I found was the 2012 Ford Focus that features a smart key called MyKey. Ford's new technology is a part of their ongoing effort to reduce teen driver accidents.

MyKey features enable owners to:

Limit the volume of the radio, thereby reducing chances of a teen driver being distracted from the road.Limit the top speed of the car to 80 miles per hour. The key is programmed to chime at intervals of 45mph, 55 mph, and 65 mph.Encourage seat belt use, using a feature that enables radio mute if the seatbelt isn't latched. The MyKey feature also persistently emits a 6 second reminder chime every minute for 5 minutes until your teen driver buckles their belt. Also, the display "buckle up to unmute radio" is shown on the instrument panel.Provide earlier low gas reminders; instead of showing up at 50 miles to empty, it appears at 75 miles to empty. When the key is in the ignition, it has a blind spot information system and a parking aid that helps in parallel parking. It cannot be disabled.

In my car buying research, I found that the MyKey encourages safer driving, especially among new teen drivers. Teen drivers surveyed stated that they would be open to this key, because it would mean they would have more freedom to drive because their parents would be less worried when they were using the car. About 50% of parents surveyed, said that they if they had this key, they would be more likely to let their teenagers drive the family vehicle more often. The MyKey technology has the added benefit of teaching teens to limit their speed when driving and increases the fuel economy of the car.

For even better peace of mind, I found in my research how GPS tracking systems, combined with MyKey, can tremendously reduce the number of accidents teens are involved in. Using both of these together, parents have so much more control over their teen's driving habits. These devices allow parents and teenagers to be more aware of how safely they are driving, thus reducing reckless and distracted driving.

My name is Jennifer Katz, and I am the mother of a new teen driver. I created my website, http://www.teendrivertracking.com/, with the hope of being able to educate other parents of teen drivers on how to keep their teens safe. I would also love to hear from parents about their experiences with their teen drivers, and what they do to keep their teens safe.

Auto Suspension Parts: Know Your Vehicle

Imagine that you are traveling in your car and you encounter a large speed breaker in the middle of the route that you have to cross. You feel uncomfortable because you are aware your vehicle has a poor suspension system. However, if you had effective suspension parts installed, there was no need to worry about bumps or other similar hurdles. Suspension parts can help you to cross hurdles on the road smoothly.

Let's check out the different parts of a suspension system.

Control Arm: This is also known as wishbone. The shape of this suspension part is nearly triangular. It resembles 'A', so sometimes it is also referred to as the A-arm. On one side, it is attached to a steering knuckle with a ball joint, and on the other side it is attached to an arm shaft with bushing.

Bushing: A small but important part in the suspension system. Bushing is mostly made of synthetic rubber to separate out its two metal parts. This synthetic rubber helps both metal parts to coordinate smoothly. It also helps the suspension parts to move freely when navigating a large bump, for example. There are polyurethane bushes also available in the market that are more durable.

Ball Joint: A ball joint is a spherical bearing. Generally, it is used to join the steering knuckles and the control arms. It is a very important part between the steering and suspension, and it is responsible for safe operation. The difference between these and the standard ball joints is that lubricants are not needed for sealed ball joints because they are already lubed, while standard ball joints need regular lubing else they may cause lose control.

Sway Bar: Sway bars are also known as stabilizer bars. A sway bar is used in a vehicle suspension system to reduce jerks caused by irregular road surfaces. It also helps the vehicle to keep a 'grip' on the road so that the driver can steer the vehicle well, even while turning or in the case of poor road surfaces.

Idler Arms & Pitman Arms: Idler and pitman arms depend on the support of steering linkage. An idler arm is fitted to the opposite of pitman arm on the center link. It helps to hold the center link at a proper height by attaching the other end onto the vehicle frame. The Pitman arm helps to steer the wheel because one of its ends is attached to the vehicle's steering gear.

The ones discussed here are only some of the auto suspension parts. There are many more big and small parts within the suspension system. Adjusting sleeves, center links, drag links, strut mounts, sway bar links, tie rod ends, wheel hubs, and other similar parts are also components of auto suspension. Without understanding these parts, you cannot fully understand your vehicle suspension system.

Ace Power Products, LLC is the worldwide distributor of genuine parts, including used, unused or brand new, and aftermarket spare parts, including auto suspension parts. The company has a direct network of dealers' inventories for construction, agricultural, mining, and marine machinery. Ace Power also has an online facility for fast delivery of spare parts.

Things To Consider To Pick The Best New Car

12.26.2011

Making a car purchase can be very exciting. There is nothing that is quite like the feeling of bringing home something that is shiny and new, especially something that is as valuable as a car. For many people, new cars symbolize freedom and their ability to go anywhere and do anything that they want. They can also be a status symbol. There are actually many people who subscribe to the notion that the right car should say something about its owner. It should be reflective of the owner's personality and lifestyle in color, make, model, and in other elements. Whether or not you subscribe to these particular ideas, it is, nevertheless, important that you take steps to find the best new car available. There are several different things that go into the purchase of the right car.

One of the most important things to consider is the type of car that you are looking for. You will likely buy something completely different if you are looking for something that you can drive to work, than if you are looking for something to drive on the weekends. If you are shopping for a car for your sixteen-year old son or daughter, you will likely have a whole different set of criteria. You can save a lot of time by clearly establishing the things that you are looking for in your new car.

It can also be helpful to look at the specifications of different cars online. Consider their safety and other ratings. Also look at their storage space, available features, and other elements. Above all, it can be particularly helpful to read reviews from experts and from other customers so that you can find a car that you think will be right for you. A car is an important investment. Look for something that you will be happy with right now, as well as a few years down the road.

The financial aspect is very important when selecting a new car. The car that you are able to purchase for $15,000 will be completely different from a car that you could purchase for $50,000. While it is important that you choose something classy and attractive, consider the implications of your monthly payment. Think about how much you are able to put down on a car and how much you will be able to comfortably pay in the coming months and years. Also, think about the price of maintenance including oil changes, tune ups, replacing tires, car washes, and other things.

Finally, as you look for just the right car, there are several exterior features that are important. Although these things might not change the way your car runs, they can make it much more comfortable and enjoyable to drive. Think about the color that you like best. Also consider whether you would like to have leather or cloth seats. Seats that have built-in heaters or air conditioning can also improve comfort. There are even cars that have cameras to help you back up or a feature that will do parallel parking for you. All of these things will impact the price as well as your enjoyment of the car that you choose.

A Clean Car Is A Happy Car

Many assert that cleaning their car both inside and out helps to make it run better. Whether this is or is not true, keeping a clean car does have many advantages. Apart from being organized and more pleasant and attractive to all who see it, keeping a clean car helps drivers to focus on the road and drive more safely, which is always a bonus. Regularly cleaning a car can also help a car to retain its resale value more than not cleaning a car. This is true for a few reasons. First, a clean car is always more attractive than a dirty car, especially when a lot of dust and dirt or other types of grime have accumulated on the outside. Second, keeping the exterior of a car clean helps to prevent the paint from chipping or peeling off, which helps to keep the exterior of a car from rusting and needing costly repairs. Finally, keeping the interior of a car clean can help to protect the health of those who drive in the car on a regular basis, as well as ensure that they are safer in an accident. Utilizing all of the benefits of keeping a clean car helps all to have a more enjoyable and pleasant driving experience, and helps to keep all those in the car safe and sound.

It is no secret that distractions are one of the most common causes of car accidents. Distractions can come from anywhere, so it is important to minimize them as much as possible. Though you cannot control whether passengers in your car are loud and disruptive, you can control whether there is a lot of stuff cluttering the inside of your car, which can also cause many distractions. One hypothetical distraction is a lose paper or a bunch of loose papers that are in the backseat or on the passenger seat of a vehicle. If the weather is fine and you want to open a window or two to enjoy the fresh air, these papers will fly around all over your car. This may also cause the papers to fly in front of your face, blow onto your arm or side, or simply be an annoying distraction. By keeping a clean car, as well as making sure a weight, purse, bag, or other device secures all loose flying objects, this distraction is no longer a factor and you are more able to drive freely. Ridding yourself of as many distractions as possible is very essential to keeping you and your passengers as safe as possible.

In addition to getting rid of distractions while driving, keeping a clean car, especially a clean interior, is also helpful in case of an accident. Objects in the back of a car, especially heavier objects, can be thrown forward in an accident and cause extra damage to those in the car or the car itself. To avoid this, any objects that are not needed in the back should be put away or stored in the trunk. This can help to get rid of any chance that a random object will be the cause of injury or possible death while driving a car. All in all, clean cars make happier and healthier cars.

Who Can Benefit From Diesel Fuel Treatment?

12.24.2011

Diesel fuel is used for all kinds of industries, be it construction or transport, power generation or agriculture, drilling and exploration or refineries. Every mechanical body seems to be running with the power of petroleum. And this is one reason why Earth's atmosphere is no longer healthy and refreshing.

Although there is no way yet to fully control the usage of gasoline or to completely eliminate its existence there are some technologies that can effectively prevent major harm. This technology is known as additives and it's main role is to dilute petroleum. This reduces consumption rates while also improving its combustion, thus preventing dangerous emissions. If diesel fuel treatment is taken on a wide scale, the following industries may greatly benefit from it.

School Buses and other Vehicles

School buses are heavy vehicles that needs high amount of fuel and according to statistics these buses emit dangerous gases four times more than a car. The exhaust levels on school buses are 46% higher than levels deemed as threatening to human health. With the level of dangerous gases emitted by school buses, there is a very high chance for school going kids to develop cancer and other health problems. If gasoline used for these buses is treated, fuel consumption will be greatly reduced. If consumption is reduced, there will also be limited emission of dangerous gases in the air.

Agricultural Machinery

Agricultural yields have been reported to have diminished greatly due to excessive pollution. An estimated loss of nearly five hundred million has been reported in crop reproduction. In order to enhance crop production, it's important to reduce pollution levels and that is only possible if vehicles traveling around rural areas are treated with a fuel additive.

Transportation

The transport industry uses the highest percentage of petroleum and therefore is the main cause of pollution and global warming. With millions of diesel powered vehicles running around, ions of dangerous gases are let out into the atmosphere creating global disasters. Applying diesel fuel treatment to transportation industries worldwide will drastically cut down in fuel expenditure, reducing dangerous smoke emission and lead to improved health. This is especially necessary for developing countries where pollution and gasoline induced health problems are a major issue.

Additives may not completely eliminate gas emissions but it does strive to reduce consumption rates considerably. Cutting down half the costs of consumption and improving combustion is one way we can use fossil fuels while still being able to protect planet Earth.

Is Nitrogen Better Than Compressed Air In Tires?

In recent years, many service stations have started offering nitrogen as an alternative to compressed air in tires. There is quite a bit of research that suggests nitrogen offers many advantages over air when it comes to tire inflation. When drivers replace the air in their tires with nitrogen, many noticed improvements in fuel efficiency, enhanced handling and better tire performance.

Nitrogen is found all around us. In fact, the air we breathe is about 78% nitrogen. Because these molecules are so large, they are not as permeable and do not escape as quickly as smaller oxygen molecules. This means that when you fill your tires with nitrogen, it is slower to escape than traditional compressed air. As a result, your tires will stay properly inflated for a longer period of time.

Proper inflation is essential for a number of reasons. First, tires that are inflated to the recommended level reduce rolling resistance, allowing your engine to burn fuel more efficiently. Some estimates suggest that inflated tires can improve your gas mileage by 3.3%. That means less money wasted at the gas pump. Secondly, properly inflated tires wear more evenly. With even wear on your tread, your tires will last longer and grip the road better. Finally, when rolling resistance is increased, so is the heat generated. Too much heat can cause your tire to blow out while driving.

Even though tire inflation is so crucial to your vehicle's performance and safety, many drivers rarely check their tire pressure. It is a simple task that requires an inexpensive gauge that you can purchase at most service stations. Most experts agree that you should check the pressure in your tires every month. You owner's manual should indicate the optimal pressure level for your tires.

If you have not checked your tire pressure in awhile, make an effort to do so the next time you stop for gas. However, before you get your tires inflated with air, consider nitrogen. Because nitrogen is slower to escape your tires, you are able to maintain a more constant pressure. This will save you money on fuel and ensure that your tread is wearing evenly.

Replacing air with nitrogen also reduces oxidization in your tires. Oxidization can reduce tire life as it can damage inner liners, belt packages and rims.

Another benefit that many drivers enjoy with nitrogen-filled tires is improved handling and a smoother ride. This may be due to the fact that the tires retain proper inflation for a longer period of time.

There is only one way for you to decide if nitrogen makes a difference in your tires and that is to give it a try. Visit a service provider in your area that offers nitrogen inflation. Most of these places will charge you a very small fee to fill your tires. Drive on them for a while and see if you notice a difference in drivability and handling. Check your tire pressure periodically to determine whether or not you are able to maintain proper pressure for a longer period of time. You may be surprised to find that nitrogen makes a big difference in fuel efficiency and tire longevity.

Best Car To Own If You Are A Mommy

12.23.2011

The best car to own if you are a mommy (or daddy) is the car with tons and tons of room. Anyone that has a child knows the cargo space you need if you are going to travel across town or all the way across the country.

If you are like me, at the risk of dating myself, you will remember the family car called the station wagon. This was the vehicle used back in the day if you had a family with lots of gear.

Think back to the movie National Lampoon's Vacation where Clark (played by Chevy Chase) had a mission to take the Griswold family on a vacation to Walley World Theme Park. And they did so in this old beat up, station wagon Clark nick named the "truckster".

The "truckster" was loaded to the gills with all their camping equipment. It held everything necessary to take 4, then with addition of Aunt Edna 5 passengers camping cross country. Who can forget when Clark falls asleep at the wheel and the "truckster" went careening through the streets on its own, flying over curbs and items flying off the top of the wagon?

If you haven't seen it, it's a hilarious movie and depicts the family cars back then.

Thank goodness times have changed today.

The family cars of today are much better suited for up to 7 passengers as well as all the equipment needed no matter where you are going and for how long a trip you will be taking. And you get to ride in comfort.

Even if you are only going across town and only have 2 children of your own, there will be plenty of opportunities to carpool with the neighbor's kids or your own children's friends. Having room to seat 7 will assure comfort for each rider no matter where you are going.

Some of the best models to consider if you are looking for loads of room for babies and their gear and toys to teenagers with their sports equipment are listed below.

1.) Chevy Traverse - This car offers third row seating that will seat adults comfortably. It has a 5 star rating for safety and a sleek looking interior. It can get up to 24 miles per gallon so you can stretch out your trips to the gas station a little further.

2.) Toyota Sienna - This minivan seats 7 and offers such safety features as side-curtain airbags as well as High-tensile-strength steel body panels to provide added strength in case of a crash. Here too you can expect to get 24 mpg on the highway.

3.) Honda Odyssey - The Odyssey will seat up to 8 passengers with a series of variable seating configurations. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave this beauty a 5 star rating for its safety capabilities. Out of the 3, this crossover offers a whopping 28 highway mpg.

These are only three options for when you are in the market for the best car to own if you are a mommy - or daddy. There are other vehicles that may offer a solution to carting your family around town. These three vehicles will give you a place to begin your search.
